The FSA is today publishing a summary of food incidents handled between July and September 2017, where an alert has been issued by the FSA to recall products from sale.

Views wanted on the draft opinions for two novel food applications by the 10 November 2017

The Advisory Committee for Novel Food and Processes (ACNFP) has reviewed two applications from companies seeking authorisation for their products in the European Union (EU). The ACNFP, which is an independent committee of scientists appointed by the FSA, has completed its assessment and is now asking for comments on their opinions to inform the discussion of these dossiers at EU level.

A company has applied to the FSA for Galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) to be approved for use in the European Union (EU) under the simplified approval procedure. The FSA will present the company’s application dossier to the independent expert committee and views are wanted on the dossier.

Update on FSA inspection of 2 Sisters Plant West Bromwich

The Food Standards Agency has decided to extend its investigations to other 2 Sisters poultry plants in England and Wales. This follows an initial inspection by the FSA, working with the local authority, into the food hygiene and labelling concerns raised by ITN/Guardian on 28 September at the 2 Sisters Food Group’s West Bromwich plant.

New advice on eating runny eggs

The Food Standards Agency has today announced a change to its advice about eating eggs - infants, children, pregnant women and elderly people can now safely eat raw or lightly cooked eggs that are produced under the British Lion Code of Practice.

Following allegations made in an undercover report from ITN News and the Guardian, Food Standards Agency inspectors went into the plant in question yesterday to begin our investigation.
