Who’s it for?
This qualification is aimed at supervisors, team leaders, line managers working in the food industry (and other related industries e.g. those providing food in the care industry). The qualification is also suitable for those owning/managing smaller businesses. There are no pre-requisites for the intermediate food hygiene qualification. However it is a good idea for you to already have the Foundation (Level 2) food hygiene training certificate. Arrangements are in place for special needs.

What’s it about?
The intermediate food hygiene training course covers: · Introduction to Food Safety · Micro-organisms (Multiplication & Survival Hazards) · Contamination Hazards and Controls · Food Poisoning and its Control · Food Handlers and Personal Hygiene · Food Safety Management Systems and HACCP · HACCP from Purchase to Service · The Design and Construction of Food Premises and Equipment · Food Pests and Control · Cleaning and Disinfection · Supervisory Management · Food Safety Enforcement

How is it assessed?
There is a two hour 60 question multiple-choice test at the end of the course and you need 40 out of 60 to pass (or 50 out of 60 for a merit). Following the course you will be sent a Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering certificate.

What will I get out of it?
The aim of the three day Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety training course is to make you aware of a supervisor’s responsibilities with regard to food safety. It ensures you are fully versed in food hygiene legislation and how to best communicate the required hygiene standards to your team.

How much does it cost?
Open courses cost between £400-500 depending on the venue.

We can also hold courses at your premises which if you have 4 or more people to train (and a suitable room) you could save money.
