Jamie’s Italian targeted by using Freedom of Information requests
The Daily Mail ran an article in May criticising Jamie Oliver’s chain of Jamie’s Italian restaurants for suspected food poisoning and other failures.
The information was uncovered by reporters examining food safety inspection reports between November 2009 and November 2010.
Amongst the criticisms, The Daily Mail claimed that it had been suggested that linguine alle vongole be taken off the menu or customers warned that they could not guarantee that clams were not contaminated by norovirus.
Local authorities’ and scores on the doors websites are being used increasingly by reporters to target high profile but low scoring restaurants.
