Safer Assured COVID-19 National Survey – Week 1 Results
Results from the first week (week ending 12th June 2020) of the Safer Assured COVID-19 National Survey have been published.
Respondents were asked to complete a short questionnaire following their most recent visit to a shop. Most places visited were supermarkets as these were all given permission by the Government to trade throughout the lockdown. Only 22% of those shops surveyed were following best practice to prevent COVID-19 spread.
Not surprisingly, 80% of respondents stated that they would be more likely to visit somewhere that had been independently checked and found to be following COVID-19 best practice. Unfortunately, there is a huge shortage of environmental health officers working in local councils available to do this work.
From Monday 15th June other shops will be able to re-open. Hopefully, they will have had the time to prepare and be following best practice.
